Specialist Duplex Welding

Not every welding project is the same. Especially when working with Duplex 1.4462 stainless steel.

Duplex 1.4462 combines a ferritic and austenitic microstructure, providing high strength and excellent corrosion resistance.

For this project, the base component was 3D printed by K3D. Tuinte subsequently manufactured the required turned and milled components, which were then assembled and welded in accordance with ISO 3834-2.

Certified Welding with Strict Quality Inspections

In specialist welding, the quality of the weld itself is just as important as the inspection and verification process.

Following welding, the product underwent two types of inspection:

• Visual Testing (VT) in accordance with EN ISO 17637.
• Penetrant Testing (PT) in accordance with EN ISO 3452-1.

After these inspections, the complete product underwent precision milling to achieve maximum dimensional accuracy and quality.

Full Documentation and Traceability

The defence industry sets high standards for quality, documentation and traceability.

Throughout the entire manufacturing process, comprehensive documentation was maintained to record and verify the production activities and quality inspections.

In addition, a special certification was obtained specifically for this project.
